12-Year-Old Girl's Bomb Threat Clears Virginia Mall, Police Say

A 12-year-old girl was found responsible for a bomb threat that evacuated a mall in northern Virginia last week, authorities said.

The threat against the Manassas Mall on Sudley Road was shared to Instagram on May 22. The mall was evacuated just after 8:50 a.m. as a precaution and officers determined there was no active threat to the mall, police said.

The girl was identified on Tuesday, May 28, the PWCPD said.

"After consultation with Juvenile Court Services, the case resulted in an informal action and will be handled through the juvenile diversion process," police said in a statement.
